  kornelaLogo

A logo is not only a specific sign of identification, which distinguishes you from the rest. It is a "story". the story of your company, about who you are and what you do, what traits you possess. So even if that story consists of only one letter, one picture - it says a great deal about you.

Sign, symbol, color, front. A logo is a combination and arrangement of these elements, but also much more than this, because, besides being visually attractive and noticeable, a logo must point to what your company does, what it engages in, it must communicate certain values and traits, have an influence on emotions, attract, encourage. A logo is, to be concise, your "identity" because it compresses your company's personality. However, it is precisely during this "compressing" that all of your skills come to the fore, because it is most difficult to "say a lot in a little". Logo elements (each on its own and all together) determine how people will experience your logo, what associations and feelings will be aroused in them. The perception is based on the experience of the whole, therefore, the "failure" of only one element can completely destroy the effects of all the others. In the logo designing process, the communication of certain meanings and values must be present from the beginning, which will, in the subconscious of the onlooker, instill the desired picture and image of your company. And this communication takes place through colors, symbols, letter shapes and all of the other elements that make up your corporate logo.

Let's start with symbols. Symbols and their meanings open a whole new world because, as George Gurvitch stresses, symbols reveal by concealing and conceal by revealing. The messages they convey are powerful and deep, while the personification that is achieved thanks to them builds strong emotional relationships. It is just for this very reason that companies often used various symbols as their "trade mark". However, what kind of symbols you will use depends, first of all, if you would like to tell your clients, customers, consumers and business partners that "we are reliable, strong, stable, traditional." or "we are crazy, free, adventurous, cool, provocative.". Let's take, for instance, a bank or an insurance company. In their logos, they very often use lions, keys or other similar symbols of protection, strength, security (because it is just those values and traits that we expect from these kinds of organizations). Or let's take Harley Davidson. Harley is macho, unbound, independent, free from all of the constraints of conventions and standards, in other words, it's all about "being your own man". From this description, can you recognize the animal that lies in the Harley logo? What can better symbolize freedom in open spaces than - the eagle!?

Just as the symbol, color too represents a strong element of communication. Each color has its meaning and each one arouses different associations. It is no coincidence that financial organizations most often use blue as their corporate color, because the color blue symbolizes security, reliability, earnestness. Just the same, it is no coincidence that producers of "natural and healthy" products are usually "green". Furthermore, you must keep in mind who your customers are. If they are solely men, you should consider the "men's" category of colors. If it's the younger population, you should keep in mind that young people prefer lively and warm colors. However, when designing, choosing the "right" color is not the only important thing, you must also choose the "right" combination of colors, because, if the right harmony is not present, the picture conveyed is chaotic, senseless, irritating or perhaps so boring that it doesn't stir any emotions at all, so it is not even noticed. And you certainly don't want your logo to be hardly noticeable or, even worse, repulsive and irritating.

The font also must be adapted to the desired image given the fact that different letter shapes have different connotations. Thin and rounded letters are usually associated to elegance, distinction, femininity, while thicker, straighter letters are related to strength, domination, masculinity and determinedness. Even the use of "regular" lines (their thickness, form and positioning) has its meaning and the same goes for various forms (oval or rounded forms have different meanings than those that are rectangular and have sharp corners).

And finally, never forget that the logo is a story. And stories that have that "certain something" attract us like magnets and totally take hold of us. They fill us with strong emotions and impressions that leave their mark.
